A proper introduction

Hi there,

If you joined the newsletter over the past few months, you may have signed up while I was still getting all the ingredients of this newsletter mixed together, so I wanted to take a moment to properly introduce myself.

I am Vasanti, the creator behind Signature Concoctions. I am currently based in the Bay Area in California, where most of my cooking today happens, but my food story really began in Pune, in India, where I grew up surrounded by bold, home-cooked flavors.

I started this blog in 2008 as a way to document my journey as a curious home cook. Over time, while balancing my love for food alongside a 20-plus-year corporate career, that journey has taken me from enthusiastic recipe developer to trained chef, food photographer, culinary instructor, and published cookbook author.

Yet one thing has remained constant: my desire to share approachable, flavor-packed, Indian-inspired recipes that help home cooks feel more confident in the kitchen.

Everything I create, whether it is a recipe, a video, a class, or a cookbook, is designed to make home cooking feel more practical, enjoyable, and rewarding.

Every time I show up in your inbox, it will usually be one of these:

  • Everyday Indian inspired recipes using fresh, seasonal and local ingredients
  • Weeknight meals that feel exciting
  • Simple, comforting food with small thoughtful upgrades
  • Pantry tips, cooking hacks, and shortcuts I actually use
  • And sometimes a little story from my kitchen or travels

Not complicated recipes. Not over-styled food. Familiar Indian flavors reimagined in fresh, approachable ways that still feel rooted in tradition and work beautifully into real kitchens, real schedules, and real life.

What started as a simple recipe blog has gradually evolved into a collection of resources across multiple channels:

My blog, where I regularly share recipes, along with lifestyle posts on travel, local restaurants, nutrition and wellness, favorite kitchen and food products, and practical cooking tips and tricks

My Instagram page, where I share stories from my day-to-day life, travels, and moments from the kitchen

My YouTube channel, where you can watch recipe videos that are also embedded in the recipe cards on my blog

My cookbook, featuring some of my most-loved everyday Indian recipes, made quick and easy in the Instant Pot

My holiday ebook, with festive recipes and simple tips for effortless entertaining throughout the season

And my cooking classes, where I teach approachable Indian cooking techniques and recipes in a hands-on, supportive environment

Before I go, I wanted to make sure you were able to grab your free bonus ebook. If you ran into any issues accessing it, simply reply to this email and let me know. I’d be more than happy to help.

Thank you for joining the community! I'm so glad you're here.
